Thank you to everyone who contributed to a great 2024 Annual Meeting! We met virtually on November 16 with 40 manufactured home owners joining us from around the country; making this our fifth year holding the meetings online. The meeting included several reports and presentations, including:
- Representatives of State Housing Finance Agencies discussed their role in providing loans and grants to support buying and improving manufactured homes and manufactured home park communities, including Jeremiah Townsend, Manufactured Housing Program Supervisor, Minnesota Housing and Megan Roush, Director of Development, Vermont Housing Finance Agency. They reflect the dozen or more states to establish or expand their focus on manufactured housing in recent years.
- Will Garrity Binger, Legislative Assistant, U.S. Senator Jeanne Sheahen (NH) provided a report following the 2024 election on federal manufactured housing bills that will be debated in 2025, including the Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) Program, the Manufactured Housing Tenant's Bill of Rights Act, and the Frank Adelmann Manufactured Housing Community Sustainability Act.
- Manufactured home parks have provided highly affordable housing. However, dramatic rent increases are becoming common. Some localities have rent stabilization ordinances and a few have state rent stabilization laws. Advocates in two states discussed their work to pass state laws to control rents, including: Michele Thomas, Director of Policy and Advocacy, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and Joseph Sullivan, Executive Director, Manufactured Home Owners Association of New Jersey, Inc.
NMHOA is governed by a 17-member board of directors, which is elected for two-year terms. Half of the positions are elected in even-numbered years. The results of this year's election include:
